For all you gung ho Valentiners; do you even know what Saint Valentine did? Well I do (and I'm going to tell ya)! Mister Valentine lived in Rome and was a minister. Well, the dear old Emperor of Rome was having trouble building an army, and he couldn't enlist married men. You can guess what came next; no more marriages allowed. Saint Valentine said, "phooey on you Emperor!" (more or less), and decided to marry people illegally. How sweet right?! Not exactly. Valentine got caught for his illegal marriages, thrown into jail, and beaten. Not long after, he sent a letter to a friend of his signing, "from your Valentine". Thus creating the lovey dovey phrase. Then he was beheaded.
